I've made myself a water sprite costume using some dress patterns I have and I'm putting the finishing touches on the costume only to realize i have no shoes to go with. This is not a problem for the one indoor party I will be attending as I can go barefoot but I will be walking outside with my nephew for trick or treating and I have an outdoor party to attend as well.

What would you recommend?

I know Mermaid Iona made some cute mermaid shoes with some simple flats that she painted and decorated.

I second Lorelei's recommendation of flats, but if you are looking for something with a little less structure to it in order to keep with the very fluid feel of the water sprite I would suggest looking into actually ballet shoes. that way they are almost skin colored or can by dyed to match whatever color scheme you need (provided you go with the canvas shoes)

I love using ballet shoes as a base for any costume shoe. They are great!

I agree with the idea of shoes, But if you really want to have that bear-foot look here is a link a tutorial about how to get that look by using clear shoe insoles.
