Hey everyone! So, I'm Yaqui native on my mother's side, and my tail is hourglass dolphin themed, which are antarctic dolphins that live in the farthest, most distant cold water.

I've been trying to work out tops and accessories that might compliment the look and theme of the tail/mersona, and the Hourglass Dolphin pattern on their bodies is strikingly similar to Orcas, and other such cetaceans. When I think of Orcas, I end up thinking of Inuit and northern native tribes. Because of this, and the bloodline on my mom's side, I was thinking about trying to blend a bit of a tribal feel to my mersona. Which would make sense, considering dolphins are pod animals. I'd already been in discussion with a mer on the CA Pod group on Facebook for a vest I might be able to work on, but now I'm trying to think of an accessory or two that could compliment the collective look and theme. I keep thinking of a necklace or possibly arm bands. I have a lovely native american choker that would fit, but it's nice and I wouldn't want to take it into water. Dry gigs/shoots would be fine, though.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Ideally with a native or tribal tint?

I am Native American on my Dad's side. :)

Have you been to any Pow-Wows before? I don't know how Pow-Wows are where you are but down here there are booths set up and they sell different Native American items. Usually the best stuff they sell (to me) is the jewelry. You might be able to find some stuff there.

What comes to mind to me is a deer antler necklace. My Papa made me a necklace with bone beads and sawed off, smoothed deer antler tips. The deer antler tips look just like teeth. You could string them on a waterproof cord.

If you really want to get into it you can scrimshaw the deer antler tips. I used a dremel tool to etch designs into an antler tip once.

White puka shell necklaces are cool too and you could mix the puka shells with the antler tips.

Here is a photo of the necklace my Papa made me:
