My main worry is how to get in and out of the water in my tail. Anyone have any advice or ideas? My mom suggested to make a shell cart but Im not too sure on how that would work. I really want to start mermaiding as a proffecional but before I startI want to make sure I have everything down

One of the best things you can do is put a clause in your booking information that requires that you either have a handler provided (not the best option) or time and space to properly get yourself situated before the event.

I second what Lorelei said. I also have my mermaid wheelchair (aka the MERMOBILE) to get around in.

Does the wheelchair work well?

Well if this can help you can get to the pool before all the children arrives and put your tail on near the pool border.
When you need to go home you can ask the parents to have all the guests leaving the place for a moment and go away.
In this way they won't see you transforming into a mermaid 😁

Another option is to say that you'll need someone of the family who will carry you in and out of the pool.

I hope this can help!

I might get a wagon and see if I can get a friend to help

i dont have advice, as i am just starting out, but i am exploring this as well. i am a performer and producer for a living and i have learned...people flake.... a lot. and if you are a professional you should be able to pull off the job even if your staff and all your back ups fail. Maybe this is negative thinking on my part but my experience is making me want to be able to get from a dressing room to the water and into my tank, by myself, in my tail.

i make interactive art environments as part of my production company. i have plans to make a little transporter and i am building a tank that allows me to get from a built in dressing room into the tank and back out.

My cost estimate for just the tank is at $2,000 but i hope to get some of the materials from sponsors. If this is a successful build and if the scooter is successful (cost on the scooter is 0 but that's because i live in an awesome place where i can get free bike parts) i will share my experiences. i hope to have it built by the coming season, which for me is about Mayish.

i will take pictures, but i am leary of posting them for fear people might try copying the process without using the right materials. my design with window glass instead of poly carbonate could shatter and people could get hurt. i did just meet up with a group who does what i do who thinks they can build my design as safely but at a fraction of the cost....So ill keep you posted on that front. Though labor is usually the largest cost in a project like this.

Yes! I used it to get around for two days straight at the local Pirate Festival. If you have good brakes on it and the foot supports can get out of the way, you can even get out at the pools edge without help. Kids also get a kick out of pushing the chair around.
