Hello loves!
*I'm quite new here so please do let me know if a thread already exists for this*
I was just curious about any mers that are also into belly dance, tribal fusion, ATS etc.? Give us a shout! I'd love to know if there's others out there.:D

Yes, there are loads of dancers on here, probably because bellydance and mermaiding goes together like pasta and pesto! ;)
I've done bellydance, flamenco and tribal chinese dance.

I was a professional belly dancer for ten years! Mostly Egyptian cabaret and various folkloric styles. Then we moved to Pittsburgh and I sort of fell out of it-- not as much opportunity for performance here, and now I'm ten years older and twenty pounds pudgier. ;)
How long have you been dancing? What styles?

Yes, I bellydanced for around 10 years, and did burlesque for about 2 years. I did mostly Tribal Fusion.

Nice to see other dancing mermaids! Hey, we've got to do something while we're on land :P Ooh, I didn't even think of flamenco! It's such a beautiful dance as well. Also your reply has made me really want some pesto pasta right now, haha. :)

That's amazing! Aw you could always take it up again, even if more for fun than performing :D I did more or less traditional belly dance for three years, performed a few times with groups, but had to give it up for a bit because I've got the knees of a 90 year old. I'm quite into tribal fusion at the moment, only thing is it seems like tribal fusion classes/workshops in the UK (that aren't in London) are virtually non-existent, so I'm sort of relying on DVDs at the moment. But I'll get there!

I did follow bellydance lessons, but they stopped the program. And now that I'm moved, there is no belly dance school nearby... only ballet, and though I like the art, it's nothing for me.

I took salsa dancing for a year. :P admittedly even though I was the strongest in my class I come tell forgot the moves now.
