Joy&RaptorsUnrestrained!

Kappa, despite the name, doesn't seem to have anything to do with the Japanese water creatures who resemble turtles and humans combined, with bowls in their heads.
Instead, Kappa is about a young merman with glittery koi-like scales that make it nearly impossible to hide from the sea's many predators.
He is found asleep by members of a tentacled kingdom of merfolk, and they mistake him for being dead.
Using him (and his shiny tail) as bait, they try and catch an eel, but he wakes up... and proves that sometimes, being vulnerable can teach you how to survive.
The webcomic is still getting started, and is slow to update, but the art is pretty engaging. I do hope that it doesn't end up in webcomic limbo, but even if it does, it still offers another take on merfolk than hydrokineticists and singers and people who talk to fish, so I do recommend it.
