My family's going swimming tomorrow, so I get to try out my Mertailer Ecotail for the first time. I hope it goes well! I'm a little worried that the pool won't let me swim in it, but last month when I was there a girl was in a mermaid tail and swimming with her dad. I mean, I guess that means its aloud. I'm excited either way! I'll ask my sister to take pics!
I also feel kind of silly to have an eco tail when most people ahve silicone tails but I work a macdonalds and am trying to sign up for uni. I can't afford anything better right now because life has to come first. I am planning to buy a finis competitor L soon though. It'll be my birthday present to myself (but I'll be perchasing it in like feb). I'll probably sew myself a tailskin too.
For now its the eco tail tho. Should I post a reveiw of it after I've swam in it or is the reveiw section only for silicone tails?

Good luck!
It will be just fine :)
No need to feel silly, take your time and buy one when you have the ability to do so <3
Eco tails are easier to swim in than silicone tails so I dont think that you will have any problems when it comes to diving down into the water ^^
Have fun !

I sure hope I do. See I bought my little sister an eco tail too, and she gets it for her birthday next Saturday. I wanted to try mine out before she has hers so I can help her.

Don't feel bad about having an eco tail...I have a spandex tail that I made and have zero intentions of ever getting silicone. I won't ever be able to justify the cost (unless we win the lottery or something crazy like that) and honestly? They seem like a lot of work maintenance wise for what I want to do with it. Which is swim with my friends and have a good time being a mermaid. No need for an expensive silicone tail for that!

I may wait until after university to purchase a silicone tail. I'll probably buy a competitor finis when I'm accepted and then make sewing some tailskins my fun project for uni. If I make them zip or snap closed at the bottom they could be interchangeable.
For example I wonder what a tailskin covered in small indidually cut scales with surged edges tacked near the top and overlapping would look like. I could always tack the scales while watching TV, so the project should only take a year or so.

wise words :thumbs-up:
And honestly, you can work as a pro mermaid as well without having silicone-
I wish the expectation level many businesses have, be it photoshoot or watershow ("must have own silicone tail") would be less focused on what sort of tail the mer has, but what they can do.
Oh well.
I admit I'd like to invest in a PearlieMae tail some day, simply because those are drop-dead gorgeous.
But I'm not sure how often I would put it to use- I'm a waterballet kind of mer, and half of the moves aren't possible with silicone.

Echidna, good point.
I want a tail so I can go ocean swimming, hense the need for a competitor fin! I always thought the silicone tails, being boyent and all, were a safer option. Now I'm rethinking that. They look hard to get out of and for safty I'd need to able to ditch a tail in ten seconds or so.
Now I'm pondering if adding an invisible zipper to the side of a tail would be wise. It would make getting it on and off rather simple. And if I did tack individual scales on I could cover the seems rather easily.
But its the eco tail for now. I can't wait for two!

Ugh. The swimming got put off an hour or two because my step grandmother broke her bed. Hopefully the step dad returns soon so I can go....
