Hi everyone, my name is Amber. I have grown up around the sea my whole life and have never felt as complete as I do sitting on a deserted beach, wind whipping me in the face, the salt hanging in the air. Many times have I dreamt I was a mermaid as I dolphin kicked my way through the waves. The Little Mermaid was my favourite movie and I longed for a purple clam bra and sang 'Under The Sea' whilst sitting on a rock, under my local jetty more times than I will ever truly admit. If you had ever heard my voice you would understand why I managed this without so much as a nip or a sting. I think my vocal cords are natural shark repellents. I digress. Fortunately the singing stopped circa 1997 but my love of the ocean never has. I have two mermaids tattooed on my arm. I dye my hair ridiculous colours and get called a mermaid. I buy my daughters anything mermaid related. And yet.... I had NO idea that there were other kindred spirits out there living their mer-dreams and splashing about. Without me. I feel like half of my life has been a lie. I feel like an idiot. How. Did. I. Not. Know. About. This?! I want in! I NEED in! I have done a tiny bit of perusing (read:stalking) and you are all so clever, beautiful and inspiring. I don't even know where to start, but hopefully I can make some new friends who I can share this exciting world with. x

That's how the majority of us felt I think when we found out about mernetwork and that you could get a tail and actually swim like a mermaid. For some people they made their own, but it just never clicked that that was a possibility or an idea outside of movie films. So I completely understand. Welcome to mernetwork. :-)
