So I am working on my second fabric tail. Made out of leggings a t-shirt, and waaaaay watered down acrylic paint.

This was the result the last time I did this:3459134592

I think, given it's origins, it's a fairly good result. Swims fairly well too.

Anyway, for those aspiring mers with no money and no tail, I'm just gonna post my progress on my second tail.

Here are the materials I'm starting with for my new project (look for leggings of polyester spandex, not cotton):

I've made a bit of progress, and I'll post photos of that soon.

Oh whoops. Posted the progress picture. Not the materials picture.

Here are my materials (not counting thread, scissors, etc):

As you can see in this photo and the photo I accidentally put in the initial post, I stitched loosely from the inside edge of one leg up to the waist before cutting off the superfluous leg. That gave me more control over my cut.

Next, I will refine the edges and do a heavy duty blanket stitch on the edge. Then I will remove the loose running stitch.

After that comes attatchment of my fluke fabric and a brief logistical battle on the subject of getting my rapid in and out of the tail.

Okay. Now we have the loose running stitch replaced with the blanket stitch.

When turned outside right again, a few stitches may show, but whatever. We'll be adding a dorsal fin.

I broke down and bought a fin fun to modify to fit my rapid.

Sigh.

I will finish this up, roughly, to give a decent demo, along with more and better photos of the one I finished and happen to love.
