Friendship Tails - Sun and Moon Hybrid tails

I finally get to start my own tailmaking thread! In the next couple of months I'll be working on two tails.
For me and Mermaid Sarina. We chose the theme because of our rather opposite personalities.

So Sarina's tail will be the Sun tail - inspired by her favourite colour, yellow and sunny personality.
Mine is the Moon tail - inspired by my more quiet nature and love of all things shimmery and iridescent.

These will be hybrid neoprene/sequin and silicone tails - with silicone flukes and fins.
I'll be buying the supplies to begin sculpting and making moulds in the next few weeks!

Sketches and colour schemes will be posted later.
I'm excited to share the process with you all!:yay:

Here is my first sketch of fluke and fin ideas... Tell me what you think. We've decided on Hydra mono fins so the fluke will flow a fair bit longer than that.
Also i had the idea of adding a sun and a moon to the respective themed tails. Let me know what you think of that idea please :)

Thanks. We ended up deciding to go with very classic mermaid shape over something more complex but I love it :D

Hi everymer! Its really exciting that everyone's been so interested. I hope we don't disappoint. I just wanted to update you all quickly, mainly because Leina and I have decided we're going to switch tactics and use fabric instead of neoprene and sequins (This in mainly because I've realised I can't afford neoprene). We're going to still do the same idea of friendship tails with the sun and moon but the fluke and fin designs could be a bit different.

Hi everymer! As an extension of what Sarina said, I thought I'd explain a bit of my inspiration in changing our tail plans.
I've recently been watching some of Stella the Siren's video in YouTube, and it's really inspired me in remembering that fabric tails can be just a gorgeous as fancier silicone or sequin tails. :D

So that's what we'll be doing! Going back to our love for the Disney 'Little Mermaid' we've decided to add some Ariel style waist ruffle fins to our designs. I'll have some sketches of our new ideas soon.

In in the meantime - you will be seeing another tail from me as one of my little sister's birthdays is coming up and I will be turning her into a mermaid too! (Which makes for three mermaids in the family!)

Looks great!! Can't wait to see how they turn out! I'm partial to fabric tails as well. There's so much greatness in them! Every kind of tail is a great tail, to be honest, as long as its well made and reliable. Yours are going to be so beautiful!

Happy news! The planning for these hybrid tails will be resumed!
They should be happening in the next month or so. In the meantime, I will create a new thread for my upcoming new fabric tails.
