Dolphin kicking workouts can get boring without variation. The easiest workout set kicking on one's back with both arms held straight above one's head in the streamline position. Kicking with body in the forward motion position with the head down in the water or held high above the water's surface, however, can go easier when using a kickboard. Here are four types of kickboard workout sets that I use:

1. a) head in the water; b) both arms outstretched straight on top of the board; c) both hands gripping the front of the board;

2. a) head in the water; b) both arms outstretched, each hand gripping each side of the board, with board held in the "bulldozer blade" position;

3. a) head above the water; b) both arms outstretched straight on top of the board; c) both hands gripping the front of the board;

4. a) head above the water; b) wrists cross on top of the board, with one wrist on top of the other; c) both hands gripping the front of the board.

I usually do 200 yard/meters sets. This makes the kick sets less boring. Along with the aforementioned kicking on one's back, and sidestroke kicking, there is enough variety to keep dolphin kicking surface workouts interesting. Any other variations I can try???

I always feel naked when I'm practicing with my monofins.
