Good news for the waters of North America. On Dec. 28 the "Microbead-Free Waters Act" of 2015 was signed by the White House and will become effective in 2017. It bans manufacturing, importation or use of microbead-containing products throughout the United States.

In Canada, the Federal government was in the process of banning nurdles.
