Finally introducing myself!

Hello all! I have actually been a member since September, and have went to a few meet ups with the DFW mers over in the pod of Texas, but I kept forgetting to post this :eek: so here it is!


My name is Dorean, but most friends call me Twiz. It is not my official mermaid name or anything (I have yet to come up with anything, if I do), I've had the nickname since I was 15 and don't quite remember how I got it...:p


I've always had an interest in mermaids. Ariel was probably the first one I was exposed to. but my true love was with sea monsters! :cthulhu: Godzilla was somewhat of an idol of mine growing up. Once I got older and learned that some mermaids were not as bright and cheery as Ariel, and were in fact, dark and mysterious, my love for them grew even more! I would pretend I was a giant mermaid in my backyard inflatable pool,stirring up a huge storm and sinking any ship that came into my ocean! (I look back and realize how dark some of that sounds, but my childhood was great for the most part lol)


My best friend actually got me to go with her to a meet up the very first time. At the time I wasn't sure it was going to be my thing. But after I swam with a monofin for the first time I was hooked, and realized that this was something I could see myself doing for a long time! :D


I do not own my own monofin or tail as of yet. But I am hoping to have both (a fabric tail to start with) in the next couple of months! My dream is to have a betta style tail. They are my all time favorite fish,because they are such beautiful creatures, and I have always felt a connection with them in some way. :thinks:

and in response to Mermaid Leina; I have seen a few betta tails, but i don't think I've ever seen one made of fabric!:eek: i can only picture how magical it would be in water! it sounds amazing!

Perhaps it's only my imagination that I've seen a fabric one. But I imagine it'd be beautiful!
