Second tail but first full silicone!

I've made a silicone tail before but it flopped a bit. So I'm making mine and a friends tails this year and using the same method as the wonderful Pearlie Mae since she proved it works and looks amazing! Except I'm not making monofins! Lol nuh-uh. About to start sculpting the flukes. I've designed and created the fluke patterns and just working on getting all the swirls on her fluke drawn. This thread is about the tails I'm making for her and me! :)

They are attaching with silicone. I'm using swimsuit lining fabric as a backing. It's a way several mers have started making tails but most popularly and successfully Pearlie Mae! She's amazing! My friend Tam (Amelia pond) is also doing this method. She sat down for 3 hours at a Starbucks back in the fall as I gushed about how amazing Pearlie was and do's and don'ts of tails lol from my past experience.

Ugh! yeah mine itched and I did my best not to scratch (I got really good at it since blood suckers love me) and put cortisone cream all over it! It helped a lot (no scarring). If it ever happens again definitely jump over to the doctor ASAP and get some pills and slather on the cortisone! Mine are already diminished and just itch a little when I get hot.

Just got to finish the waist and then fill in the blue swirl on one side and it's ready for Faire. I will still need to do a lot of cleaning on it and a clear coat as well as coat the inside AND fill the swirls on the other side but I don't have time before this Saturday. Well we've run into a huge snag. She's gained weight since we fitted her and finally came over to try it on again and it won't go up high enough so I'm adding fabric to the waist and she's wearing a dress I'm lending her until we can add more scales.

I had to catch up a bit, but I must say that you done a wonderful job on this tail! The back scales are my favorite part, I love all the variegated hues of purple! Hopefully the added fabric works out on her, I can't wait to see her in it! 😄

I had to catch up a bit, but I must say that you done a wonderful job on this tail! The back scales are my favorite part, I love all the variegated hues of purple! Hopefully the added fabric works out on her, I can't wait to see her in it! 😄

Thank you! It worked to cover her lol I'm gonna have to cut the tail apart most likely and add an extra panel of stretchy fabric since I didn't use stretchy enough fabric. I'm waiting til after the Faire run is over to do that though.
