So I've been working on making a super realistic silicone tail the past few months, and I found this picture somewhere in one of these threads. Does anybody know anything about these tails? How they were made and who made them? http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/14/ff08afe76aa98e9dab05a39d3a8abd34.jpg

It reminds me of the Asian guy... Can't temember his name... He also made a life-sized killerwhale that really moves in the water etc.

Latexmans, aka Moo Prosthetic. These tails are a few years old and were made for a Thai (I think?) TV show.

Ive never seen anyone make a tail that way (body casting and then pouring both halves of the tail as huge pre-molded pieces then putting them together) but i supposed this is proof it works. I really love how realistic these scales are. Very pretty :)

It is pretty! This seems like way too much work though and it doesn't seem very practical. Does it have a monofin?

Oh my...I found these. These are amazing. I don't quite understand the process though, and I'm fairly knowledged in prosthetics and casts. How does he cast these...? http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/14/b54fd16dbea05342b0ce6f1ed3493f29.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/14/5c61037bb892297a7bd220b01615b307.jpg

He has a mold of the model's legs as well as a sculpture of what he wants the tail to look like. He creates a negative of the tail and sticks the leg mold inside it. He then fills the negative space between the two to create a seamless shell that he can paint and add extra fins to.

That lion fish tail is amazing, I am not sure how I feel about the one above it... It kinda seems like someone just wanted "ALL DA' FINS!" and it looks a bit overwhelming (IMO).
I think I counted 7 sets of fins....
