I have seen all the lovely colored sequins many of you have used, but does anyone know where I could possibly get completely clear sequins? I was thinking about painting the under-layer then using clear sequins on top to give it a more realistic look. Do you think that would work? Or would I just be better off finding colored sequins?

Also, how do sewed on sequins hold up? I want them to hold up through many many swims (hopefully for years too) and was just wondering. Has anyone used e600 with neoprene? Maybe adding a little glue behind each sewn sequin to secure it would work better?

I think the closest you will get is the clear shell sequins from CCartwright: http://www.ccartwright.com/sunshop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=7511 They do seem kind of purplish, though. There is a thread detailing how they hold up and what they look like in real life here: http://mernetwork.com/index/showthread.php?11553-Cartwright-s-22mm-Shell-Sequins-See-ALL-The-Colors!!&highlight=ccartwright You can order samples of 100 for 1.65 too if you need to test it out before ordering a few thousand!

I believe the smaller shell sequins of the small company have a clearer one than that ^
And from my understanding sewn sequins hold up better than glued however I imagine that the two combine could only make it stronger....

I wonder how well paint would stick to those...

I don't think paint would stick to them well. Sewing would work best, but a little reinforcement never hurts!

Yeah sewing is best. I used the cartwrights sequins in clear white and turquoise and sewed them on and they have held up really well! My tail has been in use for almost a year now.

If if you paint first it might make sewing sequins a little harder through the paint idk
but I think also if you use e6000 all over the tail it might make it too stiff to put on and swim easily.

If if you are hoping the paint might act as a sort of glue I'm not sure that's a good plan as the sequins have a film on the underside that tends to rub off with time.
