New Bellydance-Meets-Mermaiding Group!

Hey all! A friend and I have started a new space dedicated to those who mermaid AND bellydance (https://www.facebook.com/groups/192567504431314/) on FB! I've found lots of mers have dabbled in the world of bellydance, and lots of bellydancers are either secret or full-on tail-proud mers, which is SUCH a delight, 'cause I've been wanting to blend these two worlds together for YEARS! XD So if you're a bellydancer AND mer like we are, (whether you're a mermaid who bellydances, or a bellydancer who mers- regardless of which takes precedence in your regular practices), we'd love to you to come join us and add to the melody and rhythms of the sea! ^_^ It's all about the celebration & blending of these two beautiful & powerful worlds, and ALL are welcome, regardless of gender, size, ability, background, bellydance style, experience level, etc.

These two seemingly unrelated genres are FAR more alike in spirit, form AND function than some might think, so come let your bellydancing mer self out to play, find support, inspiration & kindred spirits, while maybe making some new friends in the process! ^_^ ♥♥♥

Super happy to have seen this thread!!! I've been belly dancing for almost a year now and I'm loving it. I don't get to get out and swim in my tail as much as I'd like but it is still a part of my life as well. :) Thanks for creating a group that incorporates both of my passions :D Joining now!

You definitely should! Belly dance is a ton of fun and a great stress reliever for me. I hope you decide to take up classes!! :)

Yay! Hopefully the local classes by you aren't too expensive. There are also thousands of how-to videos on youtube and they are very helpful, I still watch them if I need more help on a move.

Eeee! You're very welcome, Sasha! I never thought there were enough of us out there to MAKE a group, so I owe it all to my co-creatrix Annwyn for helping this dream of so many of ours' to come to fruition. ^_^ It wasn't until meeting her recently and hearing about the other dancing mers that SHE knows that I realized just how many waterdancers we might be able to bring together with this lovely contraption! ^_^ Hope you love swimming in our new little space! ♥♥

Yeey, hi there ^^ good matching :))

I met bellydance at age 5 (when i was already a mermaid at heart :P ) and been in its allurement and practicing the moves i remembered, until the bellydance trend arrived to my country and i started attend courses after 11 years. Then school and exams and life happened :P Met with tribal fusion on youtube around 2006, been again mesmerized and fall in love again with the dance... wahh, but droped it off coz of "realistic" reasons... then last year I discovered that mermaiding exist :D first I was like "lol" then "OMG OMG" and then I decided, approaching to XXX, I should finally form my life as i really want.
One word in a hundred (two), passions unite :))))
Im finishing my first tail sooooon, then renessaince ^^
