Hello MerNetwork
Long time no Sea.

This will be my thread for the ongoing painting project of my classic red neoprene tail.
This shit is magical and fits everybody and I've had it since 2011 with like zero problems
I make a damn good neoprene tail eh?

Anyways! I've never really painted any of the tail I have made so I figured why not start now on my own.
I'm using basic puffy paint, that 99 cents shit from the craft aisle at walmart. So far so good.
Wesley has used fabric puffy paint on her favorite tail of mine, her green one. Pretty fabulous.

I'm trying to go for an organic receading scale kind of look

What do you think?

Once this one side dries (and I get more paint), I'm going to low light the scales in black and highlight them in bright red and also white. So fancy.
Its probably going to look like a finfun when I'm done lol but its all good.

It's looking good!

My only question is, how well does the paint stretch? I wouldn't want you to do a kickass paintjob only for it to not stretch and ruin the fit and/or crack and flake off or something. I know with lumiere paints I have to pre-stretch to prevent that kinda thing happening.

Its fabric paint so I'm assuming its meant to stretch ehhhh? And its painted on swim fabric sewn on top of neoprene. if it cracks terribly I can just seamrip off the swim fabric and sew a new "skin" onto the neoprene. This tail use to be gold tbh.

I'm going to do a painted neoprene tail, too! One of the mers in my pod did hers entirely with regular quality acrylics mixed with fabric additives, and she's had no problems with paint cracking or wearing off!

Woo Anita! Mine did crack a bit but it's cool. Your witchcraft tail should be fine
