Has anyone ordered from Matty yet? He was very helpful when I talked to him on Facebook and I've seen some good reviews on their page but I want to ask the community what they think of his tails and their experience ordering. Please comment :)

I saw that link but it wasn't very helpful to me. It seemed to just talk about the split up

Well there are 2 mers (Jaffa and Vanora I think) who ordered tails and have been sharing their experience on the thread, so maybe that could help. This is the only other thread that I know of where Merrowfins is the main topic.
You could always ask people about their experience in this thread, you're more likely to get a response.

Not this Jaffa! I'm still jobless and poor.
I do hope to get one of his mermaid monofins one day. He is still working on them atm. I'll have to wait and see if he makes something smaller than an adult merfin and bigger than a foil.

I follow him on FB and Instagram. He has something cool looking in the works, but I wish his scale sheets were cleaner. He seems to out all of his effort into his fins, but the scales are so rough, like he tried to rush through them just to get them done.

He actually commented on his new scale sheet, saying it took him a few weeks to make and that he wanted the scales to look rough and natural. Also, the cool looking thing is probably Vanoras tail, hes been posting her fin sculpts.

I love Matt. He's an amazing artist and I've expressed my thoughts about his work and my tail a lot. My tail looks beautiful in my opinion, including the scales. Matt became one of my good friends and he really genuinely cares about his customers and his art. I even asked him to add an extra detail on my fluke and he Skyped me right away so he could show me in person to make sure everything was just how I wanted it. I have nothing but the best things to say about Matt.

Real fish scales aren't rough...they're extremely smooth...

Yes, that's what gives them such a beautiful shimmery reflective quality and makes them so beautiful. Rough scales can be attractive but would seem a bit more lizard like to me. Not a bad thing, just different.

I'm with Theo, natural scales are sleak, streamlined, shimmery. Matts kind of look like he just didn't feel like spending that much time making a smooth set. It can be rather tedious I bet. It will be interesting to see them used in a tail and put together to see what they really look like, so far I have only seen what appears to be blurry photos. Who knows, maybe they will look fantastic.

Well, I'm just quoting what he said, if he wants them rough looking then so be it.

All you can do is wait and see as when he has done the silicone it may come out well.May find may look better then it does at the moment.

I actually really like the look of Matt's scales. Some of the extra dots or globs of silicone on them I could have done without, but I think they look really good overall. I am excited to see your tail Vanora!
