Hi, I'm Ziro

This is still a working name, but hi, most call me Ziro. Pronounced like the number 0.
I'm primarily a land-based creature since Poseidon seems to have it out for me, but a while back my friend Nyssa dragged me into this whole mermaid spiel and I've been (amusedly) trapped ever since.
I'm currently working on a metal tail and have previously McGyvered together an eel tail because it's awesome. However my mer friends think swimming with an eel is icky. :/ that's their problem, right? I don't bite unless people get too close.. They've been warned.
Anyway, I love socializing and collaborating and will be happy to show you all my crazy ideas for things. I've been quietly lurking on the site for a day or so and decided to actually sign up because I got too excited. Anyway. Hi you all, I hope to make friends.

Ah, I guess I should probably mention that I'm /technically/ trans, but having a lot of difficulty on the whole... Transitioning side of things.
I classify myself as a merman though. I won't get mad if people forget, it happens a lot.
I have a few pictures of the tail I made and the current one in progress. And like I said earlier, if I come up with a design that sparks your interest, talk to me and tell me your ideas, I love working with people. As for making tails for others, I'm a poor college student with little time and less money but I'd love to maybe do that one day. I've been seeing things in threads about various design flaws with current tail technology and I'm almost giddy thinking about ways to fix it.

I should mention also, the current tail I'm making?

Then again. As you all may quickly realize i'm not terribly smart and tend to do stupid things. But I intend to do cool stuff.

Welcome! An Interesting idea with your tail, what sort of metal will you be using? I imagine you would want something that's rust proof but also articulated enough that you could move your legs around in the water. Will you make a metal fluke instead of a monofin (I got the impression you wouldn't have a fluke if you are making an eel tail)? If you have no monofin or fluke how do you propel yourself in the water? I think eels move by undulating thier body side to side which would be hard for a human to do.

Yeah, I'm using aluminium! Specifically the little tab tops from cans! :p the fluke will be woven from simply more tabs. So it'll be stiff where I need it to be and flowy everywhere else.

As for the eel tail, there was a fluke in it, which I'd hand crafted using some unconventional materials. A pair of flippers (didn't know monofins existed. Ha!) And the plastic from large-slat window shades. It was malleable and had the proper movement, sadly I've discovered it doesn't like most cold temperatures. Also a whole lot of duct tape.

But due to the weird shape and materials I discovered I could swim backwards! I'll happily release my design once I figure out how to put pictures on here.

And a programmer mermaid? Never thought I'd see that. Awesome!
