Hello!

I've been lurking for a while, but just received my first monofin so figured it's time to post.

My name on land is Dalestair, but when I'm in the water I'm Mermaid Salacia. I'm part of the Pod of Oceania - more directly from South Australia. I am very fortunate to have been able to borrow a fellow mermaid's spare fin and tail to give mermaiding a try and I fell instantly in love. I am now the very proud owner of a Mahina Mermaid monofin, which I am dying to go try out soon.

My favourite aquatic creatures are stingrays and sea urchins, and land animals I love cats. When not mermaiding, I'm a University student studying Teaching, French, History, and English. I'm also a cosplayer, model, and actress - so I lead a pretty busy life! So I went for my first swim in my new monofin yesterday and it was AMAZING!

There was a little girl on the jetty who thought I was a real life mermaid, and was asking me 1000 questions about living in the ocean - totally adorable!

And then there was a stingray who swam up super close to me and it was amazing but also totally terrifying at the same time because I didn't want to accidentally wack it with my fin!

Also, I love this fin! Mahina Mermaid was definitely a great choice, so thank you to the Tail/Fin megathreads on this forum for pointing me in that direction!

It's been about 11 months since I started. I've made my own fabric tail, traveled across the country to swim with about 20 mermaids from around Australia, and started learning some cool tricks. Thank you all for your support and advice for these months.

The girl next to me is Mermaid Bloom, also from SA. She has a mahina fabric tail also, so it was really cute to be matching mers of the same species haha. It was such a great experience to meet all these wonderful merfolk.
