Help! Shipping to Australia

Met a real sweet mer who'd like me to send her some of Michael's nifty new spring nautical trinkets...I really want to make this happen!
Shipping as I've researched is AT LEAST is $52 USD.....
Anyone have any nifty ways to get things from US to Australia?

Phft. I wish. Besides the dollar gap ATM the main reason I don't buy things from America is the ridiculous postage charges. That's if they're even willing to ship overseas. Which many American stores are not. It's so strange, because I can send the same thing to America for like half the cost. And we only have like one postal serivce here, you guys (from what I've seen) have a few. It's strange it's so expensive.

Maybe try a shipping service? I know Auspost has one now, basically you pay a flat fee, then a fee per kg. I think it starts at $26 though, but at least that's cheaper than your other quote!
