I've been looking around trying to find stuff for awhile so now I'm asking you mers for help...
I've learned how to blow bubble rings but I cannot figure out how to do this without holding my nose or getting water right up it! Any help or perhaps resources/old threads would be appreciated. :)

If you don't were nose plugs or clips you'll get water in your nose. That's something that you just have to get used to or get those nose plugs, of course they will be a bit visible :)

You just have to get the water up your nose! You eventually get used to it! I used an invisible noseplug a few times an it created too much of a vacuum at depth which caused bad sinus squeeze (very painful!). So now I just go without but make sure I use a neti pot before an after I perform!

I've found just using a few fingers and not your whol hand can help. But I just practiced and practiced!

Now I think about it bubble kisses are really hard to explain haha. It's a little similar to bubble rings but vertical instead of horizontal and you have to be a bit more forceful with your breath and then use your fingers (hand tends to smother it too much) to guide it out.
As for rings, pretty much you just learn to tolerate the water up your nose haha.

Yes. I can attest to the water going up the nose. I have been practicing without my snorkel mask and boy, does it hurt!!! People think that's just pool water inside my goggles. Nope nope. Its tears!

No I made mine because the silicone the sinus savers were too bulky. But as I say. Wouldn't recommend one.

The sinus saves ARE bulky, but the medium works well for me. That was the smallest size when I purchased them, but I thing I may try out the smaller ones they've since introduced.

On the subject of noseplugs causing sinus squeeze:
normally this shouldn't happen. The cause is usually mucus within the sinus (which is why you should never dive with a cold) and would have happened anyway regardless of wearing plugs.
I'm not sure about scuba, but at least in freediving, a plug should be no problem to vast depths.
Pippin Ferreras descended to 100m with a noseplug, then removed it (but only so the water would force-equalize his ears),
so the average mer with noseplug should be good.

With scuba, you usually wear a mask that covers your nose. The mask is flexible, so you can squeeze the rubber against your nose, pinching your nostrils closed. This is normally to equalize while descending.

The petite sinus savers may help you though. Don't discount them right off. I love mine, even if I do plan to buy the smaller size that has been recently made available.

If you don't want to wear nose plugs or try to go without, there are some brands of snorkel mask that isn't so big on the face.

Hey guys,
:confused:Id love to learn to let my sinuses flood to do bubble rings like that too, but how do you stop the water from going down to your lungs?
thanks!

Press your tongue firmly onto the top of your mouth. You will get some water at first but to stop from choking on it, just before you surface, blow out some bubbles through your nose.
Another trick is to breathe in some water and hold it in your nose.

I find the water doesn't go down the passage into my lungs at all when I flood my sinuses. It just stays in my head. Haha. But as Jaffa said it is a good idea to blow all of the water out of your nose and sinuses as soon as you surface otherwise you end up swallowing back a lot of that water and making yourself feel rather sloshy and unwell in the stomach! When you surface make sure your head isn't still tilted back because you choke a bit too! I once came straight up from a backflip for a breath and went backwards for another one with all of the water still there and it was not pleasant I tell you!
Also I wouldn't recommend letting your sinuses fill in any sort of water that could be particularly unclean or harbour bacteria etc. :)

If in doubt, just use a snorkel mask. The kids at my pool don't notice the mask much. Some parents have even called my snorkel mask, blinkers.
One even shouted it out loud, "Look! She's wearing blinkers!"
How freaking enraged I was when I heard that!!!

I use the Sinus saver nose plugs. They don't show up at all in videos. I was even debating making them look like a nose ring somehow.

I swear by SinusSaver plugs. I can't invert or blue bubble rings without my sinuses flooding. (A talent I just haven't been able to master)
SinusSavers make my life so easy. Go check out the review thread about them. I think they are about $15USD on Amazon
