Hello everyone so at my local YMCA we are gaining popularity with girls swimming with tails. I'm currently trying of getting a Mermaid 101 kind of class going but before I talk to my boss I need to have a plan. If anyone has any idea on what should be learned to have the proper mermaid safety that would be great. Thank you!!

This is what I a, doing with my pod for new mets/kids
-teach them the tools on land meaning teach them about the mono fin . And the movement on land
- watch them swim before a tail is ever out on
- go back on land teach them how to fast and saftly get out of the tail in case of an emergency
- gointo an area that is about 2 feet deep around your waist height have them put on just the mono fin slide into the water you grab their hands and guide them to teach them how to swim with the tail or mono fin in the water with you guiding and helping them along the way.
Once you see that they can swim have them put on there tail fully them a pool noodle then tell them to try and swim on their own with you at their side at all times

Not a problem . I would also write up something that contains the rules like -no swimming without the supervisor there :that's u or the one holding the class::
-no walking or hopping with your tail on-
-try your best not to stand in your tail
- never swim alone
you can add more and have them and s parent sign it this states that they fully understand the rules and Rick to swimming with a mono fin

I based my training for kids off of what I know as a mermaid, monofins, and paired them with the suggestions made for swimming capacity by the red cross :)
