Hi all!

Today was tinker time, and so I did a small test on lexan and its resistance to scratches. The result was quite interesting:

Unscratched lexan is virtually unbreakable
A scratch (or in this case a cut) makes it break along that scratch easily

I guess that may be why my homemade fin broke last year. For glueing the footpockets on I roughed the surface with 80-120 grit sandpaper. The scratches might have introduced a weak spot, and the fin slap might have been the one shock too much.

Bolt the fins on instead of glueing and that way you won't need to sand it down

Yup, that's definitely an option. I was just suprised that lexan ist that sensitive to scratches, so I thought it would be good to share the findings ;)
