Hey y'all! After 5 fabric tails, I *finally* started work on a sequin tail around mid January after months of planning and designing! It's designed after a female orca! :) (I know the appeal of orcas and dolphins as inspirations is usually a no-scale tail, but I wanted a sequin tail and I wanted an orca tail, so why not?) I'm so so excited, and I've been working on it whenever I'm not in class or working. *squeals*

I'm making this thread to help hold me accountable for finishing it and to get any advice anyone wants to offer! I haven't hit that "i cannot take this anymore" point, but just in case it comes... I'll try to keep this updated! I'm about 3/5 of the way done already so I attached a few pictures. Let me know what y'all think and if anyone has any suggestions! :)

Interesting idea. I was considering a new tail that was (finally) an orca one, but I was trying to decide on the right materials. On a side note, this one looks less like scales and more like a fluffy plush orca in these pictures. Hehe.

Nice work! How much heavier is it to swim in than a normal fabric tail?

I haven't swum in it yet (plans to finish wrap up around May 1st) but right now it has gotten pretty heavy with about 8,000 sequins on it. I'll put up a video of its first swim after May exams :)

So, update: Having some issues with weight and the look of it... and affording more sequins. Since I'm not crazy about how overlapped they are, i'm taking out the upper half of the back where the sequins are more layered, and spreading them out, securing them with E6000 where needed! I'm starting to rip off sequins to tonight, maybe start to reattach, and have moved my *new* deadline to the sequin week of June! (It's a little ambitious, but so am I!) I'll posted more pictures as I go :)
