Hiya! I was asked to do an introduction thread...so here we go.
I'm Mermaid Alki, I'm a transgender MtF Mermaid who just moved to Charlotte, NC (As of 3/15/2016)
I don't have my tail yet, I am currently in the process of saving up for a beginners fabric tail, and then hopefully a silicone tail once I master the fabric one, but I have been swimming with a decently sized monofin for almost 5 years now.
I first came to know about merfolk from the Disney movie The Thirteenth Year, an origin story I'm sure a lot of us here probably share hehe, however, my personal desire to become one solidified and eventually grew into an obsession when I saw the Charmed episode, The Witch's Tail, research into that golden tail eventually lead me to discover how commonplace tails are, and from there, I discovered the online Merfolk Community, filled with wonderful friendly people, and some not so wonderful and unfriendly people, but I won't point names publicly.
My involvement with this community has so far been short lived, I only really bought my first shell top 2 years ago, and my first monofin a little over 4 years ago, however, with my relocation to a more tail-friendly more accessible place, I hope that I have a future here in this community, and while I don't intend to be mer-celeb known over world wide as I dont know if I could handle the popularity and responsibility involved, I hope to make lots of good friends, good memories, and have lots of good fun along the way.
If you want to know more about me, please, just ask, I'm an open book, as long as it doesn't endanger me on any level or endanger my friends, I'm up for answering anything!
