If you didn't need a durable re-usable mold, could you just pour silicone into a clay negative? assuming it was sulfur free clay, would it work?

I've done it with plastilina and Sculpy. The only tip would be to pause and test often because it's really weird carving out a negative space! (I made a starfish that way and it took three tries to get it looking good.)

I used monster clay. I melted it, pressed in a toy starfish, and pulled it out, then let the clay cool and then silicone.
