From what I've seen, there are 3 options for attaching sequins: hand sewing, using a sewing machine, or using E6000 glue... I plan to use 2mm thick neoprene and the sequins I'm going to buy are the 22mm shells from Cartwright's. The have a very flimsy loop so if I were to hand sew them, I would need to poke a new hole through every single one. I also heard that sequins that large sometimes shatter and having a hole in the base might encourage breakage... I know that using a sewing machine on sequins will shrink the tail a lot, but I don't know how drastic that shrinking is and how much I should compensate. As far as E6000 goes, it seems like it's not as effective as sewing and it's poisonous... I will be working on it at school, so I won't be able to bust out a gas mask and gloves or I may cause an evacuation. Does anyone have any suggestions? Am I missing something?

I think sewing should be fine as long as you knot the thread on top of the hole in the sequin and the loop it through the neoprene about 5cm above before sewing the next sequin.
Make any sense?

Yes! Thank you! You don't think adding a new hole to the sequin will cause shattering problems?

For goodness sake DON'T do that!!!!
That willl mean sure disaster.

Sew like I outlined above with just the one hole and it should be fine. :)

Haha ok! But the issue is that the loop will snap off from the shell!

THATS ME! And yes on this size sequin the loops pop off. I was considering melting or poking holes through the flat tabby parts of the shells for sewing.

Ah ok didn't know that you'd already twisted off the loop with ease.
So don't put any holes in the ribbed part of the sequin
I think it would probably work well to put a stitch in each or the flat parts on the sides of the top.

That sounds like a good idea!! Wesley, were you able to snap off those flat side parts as easily as the loop part?

Any updates? I'm ready to get the same size but don't want to have an issue with them breaking.

I actually was messing with the sequins and honestly I couldn't get one to break off.... I tugged pretty hard and the loop wouldn't snap off...
