Hello all! I'm fairly certain I had joined this forum at one point but for the life of me I can't find my info and must not be using the same email anymore. I had some medical problems that turned out to be really bad allergies :/ but they prevented me from being online much.
ANYWAY, I am 32 year old mother of one (and done) living in California - but still a couple hours from the beach. In the central San Juaquin for anyone who knows the area. I don't own a tail but I do enjoy monofin-ing. Due to health I have lost a lot of muscle and breath support and gained a lot of weight :p. A bit curious how this summer is going to go for me as I have discovered I'm allergic to chlorine and I have thelasophobia!!! But I'm pretty determined to overcome the thelasophobia and try to find a way to deal with the chlorine and get back in shape and back into monofining. Would love to get comfortable enough to go free diving.
I've been a mermaid fan since The Little Mermaid came out (I was 5). As I got older the story didn't do much for me until someone explained to me that it was an allegory for trandgenderism. I am, at least, a sympathizer and would like to get more involved in my local community... But I didn't get into monofining until my son, who was 2 at the time, discovered mermaiding on YouTube and went crazy. He fell in love with mermaids and can still watch videos for hours at a time. They don't even have to be good haha! So we ordered a monofin for me, and since he was too little for one, we got him some flippers that look like monster feet (Speedo make them) and we swim together like that all summer.
I work from home writing and am hoping I'll be able to start working for myself soon; blogging or selling my art work . . .I just took up restoring and repainting/making over dolls as a hobby but haven't finished any yet :/
