Hey mers, I was considering different methods for fabric tail making and came accross this on eBay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Snake-Skin-Faux-Leather-Dress-Craft-Upholstery-Fabric-Material-Black-Charcoal-/222010116843?hash=item33b0d58aeb:g:SxYAAOSwJb9WrKB d

Will paste it here as well:
36904

36905

Is there a reason I can't find it being used anywhere, does it not have the right buoyancy or something like that?
I'm thinking of lining it with neoprene for a bulkier, rounder mertail effect. I'm aware that this is not going to be as stretchy but if I get a sample and make sure I'll be able to bend my knees in it it should be fine shouldn't it?
What do you think?

Thanks :)
Monika

It might shrink or fade after one use.

I am not sure if faux leather will work or not, but if you are looking for snake patterns there are some spandex snake skin fabrics here:

Hi the seller says product is a JERSEY BASE with the coating of the faux leather on top and that has stretch... technically that wouldn't be a faux leather if it is trully on a jersey base....
however the seller did not inform the thickness, how much is the percentage of stretch or the type of coating;
I wouldn't buy it because the coating can flake with the chlorine, salt water, or simply with the mechanic stress it would be put when you dress in and out... since must jerseys usually flake their coated parts, it might happen on the tail. However the design is gorgeous and I would look for the same pattern on lycra. You can even print fabric online.:)
