Uh... Wasn't sure if this is the right place to put it. Its all in a different language, I only know its about monofins because she says "monofin" a lot! This lady has a few other videos on monofins too. There is one where it shows someone else's video in a montage at the start. The one where the merlady shows us how to extend the Finis monofin. I forgot her name. And I'm pretty sure that's Hannah Mermaid swimming with a whale shark further on in the video. And Mermaid Aiera.

The second link has other merfolk, I only recognised Hannah and Raina.

Well technically speaking it could be a review/ information thing which is what it looks like to me, and in that case it's perfectly legal for people to use copyright footage and images for the purpose of a review under the fair use act.

No but it looked to be some kind of review or information clip about monofins. I am aware that there is no penalty for reporting videos for copyright infringement on youtube (though I highly believe there should be) I don't think she should be reported until we know for a fact what she's actually talking about. It's not fair to just slap an infringement on this woman when she may have done nothing wrong. Trying to contact and talk to her should be the first course of action in my opinion.

And Jaffa, BEFORE starting anything you could AT LEAST ask for the translation you know.
I know you probably don't understand the language but the way you acted was rather unnecessary. If you really wanted to know what I was saying you could just ASK for the subtitles instead of saying " once the merfolk community finds out that you used copyrighted images and videos without permission, you're in for one hell of a swim." Because that sounded like a threat.


In case you haven't seen the answer there here it is: the way you talk sounds as if I was not part of the Merfolk Community and as if Mahina did not sell monofins. Which is pretty obvious the subject from this video.Even if you don't understand the language -- and I belive you probably don't - It was kind of obvious that I was talking about monofins due to the title and tons of pictures in the video... You are probably not aware but there is not much information out there for those who cannot speak English. Thus the series of videos.Not sure if you watched till the end but all the mermaids shown in this video were listed on the credits and on the description box. <3Sad to see you are more into jumping on the "new" people than making non-English Speakers mermaids feel welcomed. Well, I am the "lady" from the video. And I am one of the Brazilian mermaids in here :(
Many probably didn't know I was Brazilian because I only speak English here. But yes, we are here too, I mean the ones that can read in English.
There is little to no information about mermaids, monofins, tail making or anything in Portuguese so being one of the girls that is ahead of the Brazilian community I teamed up with a some other mermaids and we started to write, make videos and share "sereismo" around Brazil (or "mermaiding style of life " in English) .

That means talking about monofins, famous tail makers, famous mermaids, about mermaids as a hobby, about mermaids as a job (i.e. Raina was named and her book)

I would very much apretiate if you ever see another video about mermaids if you ask the community before making any assumptions or threats, because we already have way too drama in the mermaid community and little to no help in the Portuguese speaking branch.

Teaching new mermaids in Portuguese is the goal in my channel.
If anyone is not willing to participate in the videos you can totally let me know and I will not use your picture or clip in the making.:)
If anyone is willing to help I would love to hear the ideas, critiques and anything else that you get to share with me :)

1. Maybe you were too sleepy to see the whole thing, but first she posted on the video which started the whole misunderstanding, no one contacted me, and then she questioned the community about the language only after making her assumptions on the vid, which she has deleted already :). If she wanted to know the translation she could just say so intead of talking that way. The way she talked to me outside this community and the way she talked in the community were not the same but are now water under the bridge. Thank you for apologizing. That is very nice indeed, most people don't.:)

Of course not eveyone knows me, nor I intended to be known here, otherwise I would post daily, I was just clearing it out because in the comment she made sounded as if I wasn't part of this community and I was just saying that I am and use the same name. That if they wanted to reach me they could. That was not like someone tried to talked to me and that couldn't. I like to think that I am approachable.

3. I'll take that note for the future. But again, I didn't post the videos here before because I really thought the videos were quite obvious to be posted here : the content has been overly addressed here, are very primary, my video skills are lame and my target was Portuguese-Speakers only... the list is big.:p

It's super ok Jaffa.:) It was you but It could have been with anyone else. You were being protective and I am being protective of the BR mers. So All I am asking is that: if you want the translations ask for it. If you have any doubts, ask about them. Give the person the benefit of the doubt before judging, and in special, if he or she is a BR mermaid. (can't talk about how mermaiding is in other countries, but don't feel left out)
I was just making sure to clear the whole misunderstanding at once because I don't want people to get all incendiary with the girls or boys that are just starting on mermaiding... that no one will feel put down by international mers. Because it is not easy to anybody in BR.

We face lots of criticism in the main media, so youtube is all we have left to spread it. Plus the hobby is expensive (minimu wahe in BR is 200usd), so there are already so few mers that I think I could count on my fingers the ones that are trying on youtube now.
So if you guys want the videos to be with subtitles, yes we could totally start to do it... but again the videos won't be so amazing but one day we'll get the quality of the international ones. :)

Jaffa did leave a rather aggressive comment on her youtube video BEFORE or at least at a very close time to when she posted here. It was certainly not as polite as her post here. I did see the comment but didn't screen cap it but I don't think Sama responded out of turn to hostility towards her work rather than being contacted about it first.

I'm not trying to lay blame I swear, it's just a bit misunderstanding with passionate people being defensive about their work and the work of other is all :)
