Hey y'all! New Georgia peach on here! Been lurking for a year or so, planning my first silicone tail, and it may just happen this summer! I had a fabric-type tail with a monofin as a kid - it was homemade so it wasn't fancy, but it was the same idea as a lot on the market now. I just ordered a new monofin last week so I can see if I still enjoy swimming that way, and if I do, I'm gonna go for it! Haven't used a mono in years but I'm hoping it's like riding a bike. We'll see! Regardless of if I go full mer or not I can at least keep poking around here and be a mersupporter, right? It's a thing now. I just made it.

Worked with a lot of fun mediums in my independent art studies classes in high school, and I'm looking forward to getting back into mold making. Haven't used monster makers which seems to be everyone's butter and biscuits, but I'm willing to give it a shot!

Anyways, excited to be taking on a new challenge!

Also I teach Latin, the dead language, so I get kind of nerdy with both language and mythology. Brace yourselves!!

Welcome to Mernetwork! That is cool that you got to do mold making in high school. I was just thinking today that I wished I had learned a few more mediums in high school. Mold making and sculpting is something I definitely want to learn.

Woohoo, another Georgia mermaid! What part of Georgia are you in, if you don't mind my asking? I'm in the Athens area.

I didn't do a lot of mold making with clay, but I took a metalworking course and we did some wax sculptures that we made molds out of. We put em in a kiln to melt out the wax and then shot molten silver into the mold using a centrifuge caster. It was awesome!

Yeah that sounds fun! I have two weeks left of work before I'm on summer break, but maybe then we can find a halfway point!

I'll actually be out of the state for the next two weeks, so that'll be perfect!

Awesome! Thanks so much for the warm welcome. Maybe I can get back into the motion of the monofin by then. It's supposed to arrive today!

No no! You're great!! Ah, so thrilling! I'm impressed you remember so much after only two years! Did you go to public or private middle school? They really only teach Latin in private middle schools here, but lots of the public high schools in the area have it!

I went to a private elementary/middle school where I learned Hebrew for seven years and Latin for two. My public high school required everyone transferring from other schools to have at least two years of Latin before transferring, and then were required to take three more years of another foreign language. This is why I'm fluent in Spanish as well.

Also, thanks! I've had this nasty cold for the last week, and I still don't have my voice back yet.

Wow! That is so awesome and super impressive! I know Latin better than anything else - been taking it since I was eight. But I took two years of Italian and worked for some French people for a few years so I can read some French and speak a very little bit of Italian. And that's mostly because Latin is so very close!

Hello. I'm K. I live in South Carolina (Clemson and Charleston) as well as Georgia (Stone Mountain/Buford). I travel between states about every other week. Unfortunately, both states aren't considered the South in MerNetwork. I'm really looking forward to meeting others. I just ordered my tail and hope to use it soon after it comes in. I'll go ahead and disclose that I'm a poor swimmer and getting ready to take lessons (again), so I'll likely be hanging at the shallow end of the waters during meet ups for a while. But, I will be attending events. The guy I'm dating and I go to Lake Lanier since he lives 5 minutes away. I would love to swim with others there. But, I assume that the ground could be brutal on a tail since there are a lot of rocks.

Yeah Lanier is a bit rough from what I remember as a kid. But welcome regardless! I LOVE Charleston. My husband and I went there a few years before we were married and fell head over heels for it. Gorgeous city.

Lorelei - sounds fun! Only time I'll be out of town is for the fourth. But mid July I'm moving out to Hiram and then pre planning starts at the end of July beginning of August so we might wanna make it earlier rather than later.

Nerine - I'll go join now! Glad I won't be the only one tail-less. ;)
