Hey merfolk.
My names Lexi, I'm 24 and currently living in northern California after moving to the states last year from the UK and getting married, and in around 5 months I'm going to be a dad which is pretty awesome to say the least.
I've been lurking on here for a while reading all kinds of random tips, tricks and stories on being a mermaid/man and figured it was time I signed up and got posting.
I haven't yet gotten myself a tail, but I've recently been practising my dolphin kick and holding my breath. Progress is slow but steady, especially when it comes to holding my breath as I'm only a couple of months off the cigarettes.
Hopefully in a few weeks I'll have my first tail and monofin, I'm thinking about the Mertailors custom fabric tail (I have long skinny legs so pre-made fabric tails would look hilarious.) If anyone has better suggestions for a fabric first tail that'd be awesome as I love to shop around.
I've already started work on some accessories, mainly a few different shell necklaces using shells I picked up whilst staying in Newport when we visited Disneyland (my first time, it was incredible) I spent most of this afternoon "drilling" holes into each one using a knife, after a long swim of course.
I've always found myself obsessed with water, swimming, ocean life and mermaids. Even as a young lad one of my favorite films was The Little Mermaid, so much so that when I was working in the drag industry my wigs were typically red to match the lovely Ariel.
As a child, my family would take me to an incredible beach in Scotland once a year, the water was ridiculously cold but I loved it and would spend most of my day either swimming in the tide or relaxing in a rock pool.
Anyways, enough rambling for now. It's nice to be here with like-minded folk, I'm sure I'll have a pleasant stay. :D
