i have been told that neoprene and neoprin are one and the same, but if you go to spandexworld.com, you will find that neoprin is actually supposed to be a mix between fabric and neoprene. at the website, they have several different colors of neoprin depending on what you are looking for.

I was also wondering what the difference was between the two. What I found out at spandex world it looked like it would be a lot easier sewable then neoprene

^ I have used it before in a dry tail, but I had to dye it in order for it to work :(

I got it from spandex world and it looks to be a mix between fabric and neoprene. It does seem that you might have to hem it though, since it's not full neoprene.

I don't know the difference, but I know neoprene comes in many different colors and isn't any harder to sew. My sewing machine is over 20 years old and all I had to do was buy heavy duty needles and thread and it worked perfectly. The only difference I think is price, but in neoprene you're paying for quality stuff that's meant for water. This is the site I got my neoprene from:
http://www.foamorder.com/neoprene.html

And this is my tail made from it (I also painted it with acrylics)

I've got samples of both at home. I can show you guys the difference between the 2. Those deciding which to make a tail out of, spend the extra money and get NEOPRENE. Neoprin stretches, yeah, but it has very little elasticity. When its stretched, there is very little (if any) bounce back. I'll take photos and try to get video to show you guys what I mean

Sorry I know this post is quite old, but may I ask if you bought a colored one and which thickness do you think would be best?

Also, do you think perforated neoprene (breatheable rubber) would be better for neutral buoyancy?

Thank you very much! (^_^)
