I tried to look for a thread on here for writer's to share short stories about merfolk, and I couldn't find one. So I'm creating the writing guild for this purpose.

Rules:
1. The story most have merfolk elements.
2. The writings must be short stories or poems.
3. The maximum number of words must be 5000. (This is to help keep things manageable and easy to read. Plus, it helps to challenge yourself so you become better)
4. Comments about stories must remain kind and helpful. (People are bound to write something that you won't like but others will like. These are works of art and no piece of art work is wrong.)
5. The author should not get into a discussion with others about their work and should take note of what you think will be helpful for your writing. Ignore what you think isn't the most helpful. (The reason for this is that, when someone reads a story that is published or posted online, the reader forms their own opinions, impressions, and interpretations of your work. If you want to get better at writing towards a particular audience, you don't want your own say to influence what they think. Most authors can't explain their book to the reader. The book should be self explanatory. This rule makes rule number 4 very important. If the author isn't joining in the discussion but is taking notes, you don't want to be rude and mean.)
6. When discussing an Authors work, stay on topic and keep the discussion focused on what the author wrote. Use quotes from the story to support your reason.

I will add new rules to help keep this thread on track if needed. These are the rules for a college level creative writing work shop. This can really help an author get better if done right. I may post my own short story here when I need a break from my own writing.
