Hi all,
So I need some advice about a monofin for swimming in the ocean. I am planning on doing a week long program next year swimming with wild dolphins in the Bahamas!! In the meantime, I am getting ready by researching the gear I will need and I would like to get plenty of practice in with it first. I would like to be able to swim with my own monofin for at least part of the week. Right now I have the So Dive Hydra monofin which I have mostly done just pool swimming with.

Now before you start telling me I should get the Competitor, I already know that I would choose that, but the problem is I have a weight limit on my luggage! I think the Competitor is around 10 lbs since it is a fiberglass monofin. The combined weight of my luggage can't be more than 40 lbs, for all my clothes and other essentials and my own mask and snorkel which I am also planning to get!

So I need something that will give me the power I need for ocean swimming, but not weigh as much as the fiberglass monofins. My Hydra might be sufficient since it does have a large surface area, but I want some more opinions before I make a decision.

If anyone knows of recommendations for masks and snorkels, I'll be needing some advice there as well, but I can post a separate thread for that where it would be more appropriate.

Thanks for your help, mers!
