hello everyone!

So, I have been meaning to post this for a while now. I am a bit further along that the pictures I have, but I will take some more tonight and update it.

To start with, my design: I know it isn't the best quality, but I was at work and had 2 pens, a highlighter and an A4 page.

The day my Mahina fin arrived! I was so excited!

My fabrics getting cut out (same day as the Fin arrival!) For my tail, I am using 2 layers. a lining layer which is a water resistant material (I can't recall the name) that is only a 2 way stretch, and a Lycra layer over the top.

I was so excited, that I started sewing right away! By the end of the night, and what felt like an eternity sewing, I finally had the basic tail! In this picture, I haven't made the adjustments to the too big areas yet, so it doesn't look fabulous. My dog (Harley)was very excited though!

After this, I was so tired and sore (it was a bit cold that night) I decided to sit in bed with a movie on. Of course, I couldn't resist playing around with my sequins to figure out the design plan for how they would sit. I came up with the design below as my starting point. Since then, I have re-visited the design and decided I need more of the light blue on the left where it blends with the dark blue. I also realised that I had put it together upside down. I was a bit tired haha

Right after this, my load at work increased and I hadn't done any work on the tail until this week. I haven't taken pictures of everything else I have done yet, but I will get tot hat tonight and update this feed then :)

Okay, I didn't get a chance to update on Friday night, so here we go! I have a bit more to add now as well!

So, once it was all together, I drew the lines onto the lycra for the fin.

Originally I was going to make cut out pieces for between each of the sections, but I realised this was a lot of unnecessary work for me. So, instead, I laid the black fabric straight over the top and hand sewed/ tacked it on

Once this was done, I drew the lines on the black, and started sewing my sequins!

The last thing I did was add in the elastic to the waist band. I only tacked this on just so that when I am sizing it after the sequins are on, it's an easy adjustment if I need to change it!

I have sewn more of the sequins last night, but I haven't taken a picture yet!
