Problem with FB

So one of my timeline pictures was linked on an unsavoury site.

Since I can't remove what someone else has posted, I changed the view settings on some of my FB pics to friends only, but the picture (which is linked directly from FB, so not uploaded from a different hosting site) STILL shows up for everyone.
I then deleted the picture in question from timeline and album- it doesn't show up anymore on FB at all, but the sodding link on the site I mentioned is STILL showing the original picture!

My guess is that, since FB never truly deletes anything, they have a database with all "deleted stuff", and if that is directly linked to, I can't remove it.

Hopefully someone FB-savvy has a pointer how to get rid of this database link.
I really hate that I have no control over who can access my stuff.

This may not help. But have you tried clearing your internet cache, cookies, etc...and then reload the offending page? When I have troubles 90% of the time that's it. Otherwise, I have not personally experienced this (let alone even know you could channel pix from FB)

nah, it's not a problem I could fix with my PC, sadly.

I did some research, and apparently the only way to get FB to take down "deleted content" from their database is to make an appeal, which may or may not be approved (and you may or may not be informed about the decision).

In my case, it's probably not going to be removed, as the pic is likely viewed as totally harmless, thus not worth taking the time to remove fom the hyperlink- regardless of what I want to do with it.
This made me dislike Fb even more.

you can complain to the server. The picture is not theirs to use.
Is the site off of Facebook, or is it a Facebook page?

Not on FB, it's a german site, and they have mermaid videos linked besides other things, but those links are from youtube, while mine is from my personal page.

That really sucks. Good example of why I am paranoid of putting my stuff online. Don't get me wrong with how I say this, but if it is a foreign site it may be extremely difficult to get that taken down. Good luck either way. I have had my unrelated to mermaiding pics stolen and sold for money...it's infuriating

ye, you can't be careful enough with uploading stuff.
But the thing that enervates me is that the photo is still on FB, they just don't delete it from their database even if I have deleted it from my profile.

It would be different if someone had already downloaded the pic and then re-hosted it from elsewhere, but no.
It's the same old FB database link.
Moral of the story: don't upload stuff to FB, because you can't take it down again.
