Hey all! New mermaid with questions!

Hey there everyone.

I've been called a mermaid my whole life! I've had green blue curly hair and dreads for 11 years and have been dreaming of getting a tail for sometime. It just makes sense!

Now, I really love the printed tails, but wanted something with some decent propulsion.

I love the mertailor eco but read that the fin is rubbish.

I think I've decided on the suntail dragon skin, but have a few questions that I couldn't find answers to when searching the forum.

1. Has anyone used another monofin in their suntail and made it fit? Either by cutting the fin or adding fabric?

2. I vary from a size 6 to a size 8, should I get a small or medium??? Do they run large or small or what?

3. Where the heck to those of you in the US buy the so dive triton fins???? I can't find them anywhere without $100 shipping!

4. And just how good or bad is the propulsion on the suntail monofin?

Also, if I'm using this forum wrong or putting this is an inappropriate subforum, please let me know. This app is sort of confusing for me...

Well, I found the size chart but now I'm even more confused. I traditionally wear a 6-8 in dresses/pants, my true waist is 29 (so I would order a medium) but the widest part of my hips are 41, so that would be a large...

I got my so dive fin from Mermaid Kat. Don't know if that helps though.

I got the largest adult size tail from Sun Tail. It fits everywhere perfectly except the waist. Just slightly too big, which I can fix myself with some extra seams and a fitting elastic waistband. I really like the monofin too. Its nice and light, not too strenuous on my back. Its also kinda buoyant but once I make the addons, it will be fine.

I can fit my old Fin Fun pro inside the Sun Tail skin, and the Sun Tail monofin can fit inside a Magictail.

Probably the most important measurement on the size charts is waist to ankle. The tail size you get should at least fit in that measurement, but if it is a bit longer its probably still ok. If the waist is slightly too big you can always take it in.

I can't answer #1 but:
#2 - I wear a size 10-12, and ordered the large, which fits me pretty well, so I'd say they run fairly true to size.
#3 - Nowhere, you just have to bite the $100 shipping. :T But my second choice monofin was $100 plus $30 shipping, so I went ahead and paid the extra $20 for the So Dive monofin, since it was the one I really wanted. Since the monofin itself is on the cheaper side of average, it does still come out as a pretty good price overall. ALSO, the reason shipping is $100 is b/c they "overnight" it, so it arrives from Spain in about 3 days. If I ever order another one (possible, since I'd like to try silicone-ing one up), I'm going to try contacting them to see if they're willing to provide any other shipping methods.

They're pretty close - SunTail is a sturdier plastic, while Hydra is bigger - but I'd say the Hydra is just a bit faster.
