2 new Fin Fun designs

I did a little looking and saw nothing posted about this so...

Fin Fun has two new tail designs, which took me quite a bit of time to realize they are tryng to capitalize off a certain movie coming out (which I have zero interest in). I can't find info on their site yet so
here is the email. Sorry no full email as my phone is not cooperating.

I really like the blu tang tail but I will need to see the real thing before I say for sure. What do you think?

if you are not familiar with the Fin fun design, its very easy to move the monofin from one skin to another. So if you want both, you can save some money by getting two skins and one monofin.
For anyone with a fin fun, you just need the skins.

You can buy the tails with a monofin or without, which is nice of them to offer that. Quite affordable too at $75 US for a specialty design!

No I don't think this fabric will rub as it is not a foil fabric but a printed fabric. It seems to be using more of a holographic fabric base with the small dots rather than a smooth printed lycra like the Mermaidens tails.

Do you think so? This is a custom printed tail design that you can't buy anywhere else, and if you did commission someone to make this design for you it would cost you much more. I think they've done a very good job at capturing a realistic looking Blue Tang and Clown Fish tail and making them affordable.

These are also limited edition tails, so a) they will become a collectors item once you can't buy them anymore and b) because of this they will probably be worth at least as much if not more than the purchase price once you can't buy them anymore.

Also, who doesn't want to be able look like Dory! Kids (and adults) everywhere are going to love this, you will be instantly recognizable at the pool. For the 'celebrity' factor alone I think they are justified in being able to charge slightly more. I think it's great that they even offer the tail skins separately, because being a limited/special edition item, they could have just as easily decided well you have to purchase a monofin with this if you want this design (and heaps of people would still be buying it).

Fin Fun is one of the cheapest around. Their quality on their Mermaiden fins and the monofin itself is great. I don't like their shiny fabric, as mentioned. (Again waiting for reviews but as I think about and from the pix it doesn't LOOK shiny, just sleek). But a price like that, that's a good deal. It cost me just as much to make my own spandex tail minus the fin. (Materials, having it professionally sewn, shipping).

Hi Jaffa the Aussie $ is not going to go any higher for a while, in fact with the Brexit vote coming up next week economists are predicting the AUD/US pair to fall (at least 2.5%). So get it now before the dollar drops.

Buy a size up to fit your waist, then alter it if you need to.

Go off your waist size and get a small. I'm not sure where you are seeing foot size in the chart since all adult sizes come with the same monofin that has variable sized foot pockets, that is, your foot size should not be an issue since the monofin can cater for almost all sizes, and you don't get a different monofin for each size anyway. I think the 10-14 etc references are clothes size, and for adults the only relevant measure seems to be the waist since all adult tails are the same length.

Looking at the size charts I don't think there is much difference in the adult sizing except around the waist. There should be no need to size up if he has bigger feet because as you know the adult Monofin doesn't have different sizes.

I'm thinking of the length or height of the person. If the tail is a size smaller than what he needs, it will really short at the waist, may not fit all the way there. So if he gets a size bigger, he can fold it or sew the waist in.

There is a lot of stretch and material. I am 5'7 and have an adult small. Once I get in the water and everything situated, the fabric easily can slip up past my belly button.

If the new ones come in large, I am going to get one and hope like heck it fits. Possibly even two of the same one so I can keep one as is and modify the other.

I'm really hoping they will make some in this new style that aren't limited editions. I really don't see how anyone benefits from the scarcity.

It's actually quite a clever marketing strategy. If people know something is limited edition they're more likely to jump on it and buy it while they can, even if they weren't specifically in need of a new tail. I've no doubts it'll generate a bit of extra profit for FinFun, and good luck to them - I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to seeing what they design next!

... and the current limited edition tails are available in a large size, so I reckon the new ones will be too.

I did contact them and sadly the answer is no, they aren't doing those ones in custom sizes. The not limited edition tail that I am supposed to be getting today, however, is indeed a custom size and I am so excited to get it and see how it fits.

My Bali Breeze tail arrived today and it is beautiful! :swoon: The colors are so vibrant, and the patterns are much clearer and cleaner than the regular Mermaiden tails. I was so excited ordering it that I didn't notice this detail, but the entire tail is covered in tiny clear rubbery dots to make it shine. Seems like a great idea, but because the large is tight on me the dots started to split as soon as I put it on. It still looks good and this doesn't seem to affect the wear-ability at all, but if anyone has this problem and for any reason chooses to return their tail, it could potentially be an issue. (They'll probably all scrape off eventually anyway.)

Anyway, grabbing my gear to head out to the pool to give it a try. I will also try to get some good pics to show everyone.

I got my tail just in time for March of the Mermaids yesterday! I was soooooo happy!

I love the shine - it looks amazing in the sun! It'll be interesting to see just how long it lasts, but it does look gorgeous!
