I finally met up with the local princess company, and we were talking about their new Mertailer's tail, which they had found to be too long and have really bad suction. I asked the actress who uses it and it does not have any drainage holes. I am wondering if there is a fairly simple way to add some drainage slits and cut off some of the top of the tail to make it not go half way up the actress's chest.
Ps: I should mention two things, the tail is so tight she had big red marks down her legs from the seam and it hurt. Second, its not going to be really for swimming as much as sitting in the water chilling with the kids.

I hear you can poke holes in an area where it'll be hidden. I've been thinking if doing it to my tail (i think i accidently sealed up some of my drainage holes so while the fluke doesn't balloon the tail has major suction and when i sumberge tge air bubbles out of the top)

I talked with Nerine. She is on her cellphone so its hard to reply but I wanted to add this for other people's use. Here is her reply:
I didnt have drainage in mine. I like the suction actually... helps tail fit better..
Add for cutting it down. Best way I'd to put it on and cut a row of sales at a time.
I've heard people have drainage holes down around the feet..
If you going to do that... take a exact knife and make a slit about .5in wide in either side of feet.

Someone else's response:
Unfortunately the cheaper mertailors are always going to be painful to sit in. To add drainage, you could probably cut tiny spots at the bottom of the fluke at the seam. But I'm not sure how well that will work. For comfort I would recommend very thick tights and to shorten it, cut off however much extra and then use an industrial sewing machine and outdoor thread to seal the tops of the seams and just see along where the other thread is.
Me: Wait thick tights for it being too tight?
You can't really make it less tight safely, but the tights keep it from stabbing you as much and make it easier to get off as soon as you're out of the water

I saw someone on the Florida Merfolk FB group that had a conversation with Mertailor about the painful side seams cutting into her, and he told her that it was perfectly normal for tails to do that.
Um... no, it's not. I have a Jesse tail and a Mernation tail, and neither do that. That's a Mertailor problem, and a glaring one at that.

I've worn both Merbellas and Finfolk and neither have side seams that cut into you. It's only Mertailor.

I had s secondhand Mertailor and his seams are thick and tough.
Mind you the tail was too small (was told it would stretch more than it did. In hindsight, not sure it was dragonskin)
I had bruises down my thighs, the inside of my knees would swell from being compressed, and a seam crushed a nerve in my hip.
My SyrenStudios tail not only stretches to accommodate movement, but has thin flat seams. Lily even smoothed the silicone and reinforced the seams to make them more comfortable.
So yeah. Eric has crappy interior seams. End of story.
