I'm finishing up casting smaller shells to replace the big ones place holding here but I'm getting super excited to see this all attached! Has anyone had an issue with the padding of the bra getting completely drenched and weighing this bad boy down even more?
I'm thinking of brushing the interior with a thin layer of silicone to kind of encapsulate the foam.

Thanks for being so welcoming and special shout out to Pearlie Mae for her wizardry that has helped me immensely.

You should post you steps start to finish! I love this top and have been looking at all the threads about silicone. I'd love to start with a top! Would you be willing to say how you made it step by step?

Yea Tami isn't the only one wanting step by step instructions, I clicked this link thinking I was going to learn how to make one myself...

It's simple. You stick scales onto a bra in a pleasing fashion! ;)

If you are going to encapsulate it so the foam doesn't fill with water, it's going to act as a floatation device and may decide to leave your chest without you! And if you soak in as much silicone as the foam will absorb, it's going to weigh a ton and sag out of the water...and if you don't seal it completely, it's going to have places that will potentially harbor mold!

I think your best move might be to leave it as is and to be sure to press out as much water after swimming as you can and be sure to clean and dry it thoroughly after swimming!

I could be wrong, though...anyone else have any experience with coating a padded bra with silicone?

I think that's my biggest question is choosing the right base, I think I'm going to have to find a super busty mermaid to help me figure that part out.
What did you use to shape the scales?
I take it you had no problem with adhesion, I heard somewhere that silicone doesn't stick well to a lot of surfaces

So here is what I am doing..and will post pictures and stuff later on...

I am a busty girl at a size 40 DDD and always have to invest in good support bras. So I knew right away that a bikini top was never going to work for me. I took one of my t-shirt underwire bra's I got from Addition Elle, and removed the little bit of padding it has. Then I am going to decorate it,etc and trust it out. I know it won't last a long time due to chlorine, etc....but I think it will hold up well enough and won't be too heavy. And will be easy to wear in and out of water.

I'm a natural 32g and I've never been able to find a t-shirt bra that's supportive. Though I did give up on looking rather quickly since most of them pinched or smushed or just flat out slipped around and didn'the give any support, guess I better look harder lol
What kind of paint did you use?

I am not using any paint at all, Just gonna embellish it with shells, etc.. Also a few of my newer t-shirt bras having very thin padding so I don't need to remove any, and also Addition Elle and Penningtons have revamped the bras so maybe they can offer good support.

It may help if you rinse it after every pool swim with baking soda. Baking soda has a pH of 9, which helps to neutralize cholorine. But don't rinse it with tap water after that! Tap water has a ph of 6 - yes, I know water is supposed to be 7, but that is only chemically pure water.

Oh! I thought they were silicone scales you had molded, oops, my mistake.

Talia- thanks- I hadn't even thought about the acidic implications of tap water vs distilled- I'm going to be better about baking soda;)
