How to make/types of fins

I was wondering what are all the different types and best ways to make fins to attach to fabric tails? Tell me your suggestions or examples of what you did!

I saw somewhere someone using DAP silicone to make sculpted fins but I can't find it. Can anybody explain it to me or link it or find a tutorial?

Some people with make a fin out of fabric and then smear a thin layer of aquarium silicone over it for a fishy look. I've also seen people use zipties to create ridges or 'bones'.
