black and lacy fabric tail

I got my new Monofin (finis Rapid) and some fun fabric to match a bikini top I LOVE. Im finally getting around to making the tail and am also using it as a test of my new pattern before I work on tails for a group I am doing this summer. I figure if I make a thread about it that I have to update I am more likely to actually get stuff done XD.

the lace fabric pictured above is whats on the top. I wasn't able to find an exact match but I'm calling it good enough :)

Problem #1. Because I got cheeper fabric its like... REALLY see through. So design change time! Im going to do the whole body in lace over my plan black fabric and scrap the side fins. Just got to make sure i get the really dramatically layered fluke that i like.

Im the same height as my mom (5'3). Everyone in the family is taller than us. I mean everyone. Including my like 12 year old cousin.
It does save on fabric though! Something to be thankful for :3

I added some white details that make the layers stand out and I LOVE it. Oh, and I made a matching top.

Im glad I picked the name "Onyx" for this tail because onyx stones do often have satiations of other colors among the black, usually these stripes are white :)
