Hello everyone! My name is Seine, I am 25 years old and I live in West Virginia.
I really don't know what to say about myself so I will just pull from the sticky.

What is your mer name: My mer name is Seine. It comes from a river in France and is the home of the Goddess Sequana in Celtic mythology.

Funfact: I really like mythology and folklore [which I suppose is fairly common here]

how long have you liked mermaids/mermen: Since I was about eight or nine years old. I've always love fantasy growing up. I was the kid that painted dragons on her walls and had unicorns everywhere. Mermaids fell into the category of amazing, wonderful things I knew were real, even if no one else thought so.

what started your interest: My interest actually began after I almost drowned. When I was little I fell off a float in the deep end. After that every adult around me was pretty intent on making sure I knew how to swim. I started watching Animal Planet and Discovery Channel to see how aquatic animals moved through the water and started copying them. It sounds weird I know, but that was the way I learned. I fell in love with the water and wished I could be [here it comes] part of that world.

what you like most about them: That's actually a hard question to answer. Of course there is the freedom of the open ocean, their mystery and grace in the water. I love how alien their world is even though it's based on ours. Instead of riding horses, you ride seahorses. I just love the fact that is is a whole other world separate from us but connected.

any particular thing about them or tails that spark your interest: Having that tail gives you that connection to the water. And to be honest, it is also a little about the whole drowning thing. I don't really know how to explain it but I feel more alive in the water knowing that it almost killed me once.

Well, to get back to a happier subject I am super excited to meet you friendly merfolk! Please feel free to send me a message if you are interested in a good chat.

Welcome! I love meeting new members and getting to learn about how and why they got into mermaiding. You're back story is pretty intense I mean to have almost drowned :jawdrop:. Anyways, feel free to send me a message regarding anything and I'll try and help out, I'm pretty new here too and just about figured everything out...I think

Thank you so much, I may have to take you up on that offer :3

Oh I definitely know its intense, I think that is why I have such a hard time explaining the draw to people. Most people I try to explain it to just kind of stare at me.

Welcome to MerNetwork Seine. Nice name BTW. Wow I have to agree with Johnny there your story is shocking, but it has a happy ending and it tells me you are a natural Mer.
Yeah it's hard to explain to humans/people 😁 why we love the ocean so much. You just said it, we feel connected on a hole new level.
When the wind is blowing from the sea, the full moon rises over the ocean and maybe a little fog I go nuts to dive in the sea.
