I was wondering if anyone had had any experience (or heard of anyone who had) working with Animal Creations regarding their mermaid suit/tails? They have this gorgeous full-body suit that goes all the way up to the chest (with blended translucent color to match the skin) and has beautifully hidden feet/ankles! Its a longer style a bit like the Hook and H2O/Fish Tales style, although not QUITE as exaggerated as the latter designs.

They made the tail in these photos for the Mermaid and the Vampire Pop Tarts commercial, which is actually for sale here (http://www.animalmakers.com/store/products/Mermaid-Special-Effects-Tail.html#) in their web store. Here is the link (http://animalmakers.com/BehindTheScenes/PopTartsMermaidVampire/) to the commercial with more behind-the-scenes photos too. (Just scroll down to the bottom of the page...)

The tails aren't made for swimming, but they have all sorts of customization available (including puppetry and animatronics), so I emailed them to find out if it might be possible to make it swimmable. If so, I think this would be quite remarkable, especially with the full chest piece; its really modest-looking. The coverage would be great for some of us bustier mers too :}

I was toying with the idea of doing a tail like the ones in Pirates 4, which this style would also be PERFECT for to capture that upper-body scales look. You could have a paint job done with more flesh tone up top and then of course the scales strategically placed/colored to hide your lady parts LOL

It'd be amazing to see someone do a matching latex/silicone bodice and tail set though! I'm thinking I might try it for myself when I start working on my latex tail :}

Oh crud. Well I searched for info here on the board and nothing came up, so I feel silly for posting about it now lol...

I definitely agree, Aqua! Its very surprising it hasn't sold yet. If I had the money, I would purchase it in a heartbeat. Its perfect! I would need to lose a bit of weight first though since it's for a size 6. I'm an 8/10 right now and trying to tone/drop some weight before I invest in a tail. Maybe if its still for sale when I'm in better shape and I've saved up; I'll spring for it! :}

There's still something oddly intriguing about a mermaid with scales that reach that far above the waist...to this day I still can't pin down what it is though!

I read on the details,it said not swimable,that might be why it isn't sold? Wonder why it isn't considered swimable?

Doesn't look as though the tailfin has any kind of attachment to the wearer's feet in the form of a monofin and in addition the material looks to be very heavy and restrictive (even for a mermaid tail).

My guess would be that the intention of the makers was to achieve an effect that made the texture of the tail and the look out of water of paramount importance and as a result the costume would be impossible to achieve sufficient movement in when in the water and probably serve as a dead weight on the swimmer as well.

Plus, from my own point of view, if you let the mermaid wearing it near the water, she might get away...which would be a shame as the thing is pretty impressive.
