Performers insurance?

I know that it was covered that it's a good idea to have performer's insurance, but does anyone have any tips about going about getting it? Internet searches bring up a few companies, but I'm not sure which ones are actually good/reputable or who I should go with? I have an upcoming dry land gig that is requiring insurance, and I'm admittedly a little lost!

performers insurance historically doesn't work for mermaids. You'll want to ask about "limited liability insurance". Simply contact a few providers, and ask for quotes :)

For dry gigs you might look at special event liability. It covers just the day you're performing, so if you're just starting out its way cheaper. However, they tend to not like dealing with water.

True, but if you are one person performing once every couple of months, special event liability may be cheaper still. As an example, if I don't book a gig in August, i don't pay for insurance in August.

special event wont cover everything you need though and in my experience it is still more expensive. Whereas limited liability actually insures your entire business, not just the gigs you do. including damage/repairs/stealing of your tail or gear :) I am insured if I accidentally hurt someone, or if they accidentally hurt me, if I damage the environment, or something damages my tail (I obviously dont bother claiming minor things I can easily fix myself but lets say an event car drives over my tail and the fluke breaks) or if my tail is stolen or any of my other gear. I found with special event it just became more and more expensive over time per event and a lot of extra work, and they werent always on time giving me what I needed for clients. not great if I needed something fast. if someone sues me, i have 3 million to work with lol
