The DREADED THREAD (but actually about locks, because, that's different...)
I SO MUCH HOPE that we can have a civil, informative, respectful conversation about this.
because that is how progress is made.
I think this is important because:
it isn't just about what is happening right this second (which is massive)
But also about the trajectory of things to come.

I'm editing this because I don't want to open a thread with my personal experience. I think that totally sets things in the wrong direction. I will add. Later.

Marius I thought this could be helpful because while the drama thread will get covered over, and it would be difficult to direct someone to information once it is lost in a sea of other things, this would be focused, and also a place for the conversation that didn't overwhelm other topics
I was going to put some information here but life happened, and I really can't devote the focus needed. It's welcome to be erased by the moderators, or I personally think it is a good conversation to have

the thing about the drama thread too is that it's a members only thread. Meaning it can't get indexed in search engines. if we have a public thread more people will be able to find the info. Maybe it might be good to summarize and quote some of the info from it here?

Honestly, Id love to have someone do a guest posts on my blog on these topics! If anyone is interested. or maybe a combined guest post.

I'll true to educate the best I can as a pale white gal: this is a complicated topic due to the fact that technically different cultures in history(such as the Vikings, I think?) had that kind of style, but I think why some people find it offensive for white people to wear dreads and other typically black hairstyles is because people of African descent have been discriminated against for wearing their hair that way, where when white people do it's seen as "cool" and rarely discriminated against, so there's a very unfair and racist double standard there.
