tail rentals for parties/liability??

So I was bringing mermaid tails to the birthday parties I do. The parents always requested it and everyone had a great time. I just did a birthday party this weekend where there were alot of kids. Originally she told me about 70, most under the age of 6. When I told my husband he freaked out, wanted to see my contract and I realized I had to rewrite it with my 'real name' and not my performance name. Anyhow, he told me not to bring any tails and was worried because of liability if there was an accident. We have some insurance that covers accidents if someone were to try and sue me, but I am wondering what others are doing? I know some rent tails. Do you have all the parents sign a waiver? I am trying to figure out if I can go back to offering that but still cover my ass. Thoughts??

Did you say 70 kids? That is an army lol....I would suggest looking into more extended insurance, and also maybe getting a couple extra merwranglers to help keep an eye on things. As for tails, with that many kids i would be cautious. Maybe just the birthday kid?

Thanks. There ended up not being that many, but there were still ALOT of kids . I made them get in line to wait to pick from the treasure box. It took forever...it was like visiting Santa. LOL. There were maybe 40ish. Still alot for a bday party. I have to do a YMCA swim appearance on Tues, and supposedly there are 100 kids. LOL

shimmy I would be happy to send you my waiver, to use as a template. But you'd need to adjust it to fit your company, and it would still be best to have a lawyer spend 5 mintues looking it over. Mine was created in canadian law so you'd want to make sure everything works for you.
