Hey everyone! I noticed that there isn't really a solid thread on here that is just about sharing our videos with each other (and if there already is one, please comment the link so that I may watch the videos on that thread! :) )! I figured that I should start one since I LOVE to watch everyone's videos!! A little background about me, I started YouTube a long time ago (under the name naturegirl1224) to watch mermaid videos and favorite them and it progressed to me sharing my experiences in becoming a mermaid and expressing myself in many ways!! Now I go by Waves of Ash on every social media platform that I am a part of.

Thank you for your kind words!! I love making these videos and I'm sure that you understand exactly why! Fancy how people get excited over mermaid videos on Youtube eh? I wish I had access to deeper pools more often.. If I did, I may be able to make a lot more videos than I do! Unfortunately, I was only able to make 2 this summer after taking a mermaid video hiatus for like.. 4 years or so D: I hope that you do well with your YouTube journey and thank you for sharing your awesome video collection!

You are hard core! I don't think that I'm brave enough to do something of that nature XD. And thank you for the video compliment! I really appreciate it!

Yes, I made the tail myself. Originally, my mom sewed it (like 3-4 years ago) and I resized it, added the fins, and painted the whole tail! It took lots of time, effort, and patience to complete but I think that it was worth it! :)

Recently I had to babysit my little cousin. Spending so much time with a child made me miss my childhood. So I decided to watch one of my favorite childhood shows called Magical DoReMi with her. I recently called the gym to see if I can wear fins in the heated swimming pool and the guy said yes but I'm so nervous taking my tail there!

It's a local hidden spot called the Aquarium and you have to trek through bush to get there but so worth it :D

I actually just uploaded this TODAY. I'm in the process of experimenting with getting silicone caulking of some sort onto this tail but I wanted to take it for a test run before I start adding onto the neoprene. There's a lot of research I need to do but I think it will be worth it in order to take baby steps to making a full silicone tail out of dragonskin in the future.

Originally I had planned doing an FAQ about the tail in this video as well but with as dark as the world has seemed for a lot of people in the United States (where I live) I decided to upload this now in hopes to add some positive vibes into the world.

I usually film them by myself and just do lots of clever angles! I really don't like letting other people trying to film me - it usually winds up with lots of unusable footage.

I gave him lots of instructions of what I wanted and everything and most of the footage wasn't usable. That is super inspiring that you film yourself. I am sure it takes practice to figure out where to swim so that you are in the shot, etc.

Thank you Alea! Trust me tons of times I goof it up with the camera pointing in the wrong direction and stuff but they usually turn out much better than if I've got someone else filming me. Sometimes I do try and get some more "organic" moving shots filmed by others just to make the video more dynamic and less boring.

I was just watching your two newest videos. You are definitely getting creative with those shots! At this point I am not sure what to do. I wanted a GoPro last Christmas and my family got me a knockoff version which I had no problem with until I filmed with it. The quality isn't great but I was expecting that, but the unforeseen problem I am having with it is that it is zoomed in a lot. I have read the manual several times and been through all the settings. There isn't a zoom option so the camera is just automatically zoomed in. Basically I can hold my arm fully out with the camera facing me and it will only get a closeup of my eyes and some of my nose. I had the camera at the surface of the pool and I swam at the very bottom and the camera still didn't capture my full body in the shot. I spent a long time in the pool trying to get all sorts of shots and then when I got home and was able to view it on a larger screen I realized that I didn't capture anything I was doing! I guess it made me disheartened but I do want to get some good shots eventually lol.

If I'm ever in a pinch I pick up a waterproof phone bag. It's not perfect for filming, but I know that my phone will work!

I agree with Whisper!! I want to get a more theatrical makeup look for when I swim and suck at that type of makeup. I can do cosplay makeup just fine but definitely not underwater.

I love Bend, I have lots of family there and my husband and I almost got married there ( we eloped), plus we did lots of hiking and back packing back when I was more healthy. Where you one of the mermaids that was featured in the news a couple years ago swimming up and down the deschutes?

I don't have a tail yet, just ordered my monofin. I've been planning on in for years but health and life kept pushing it back.
The Columbia is huge for water sports so I'm sure mermaids will fit right in. I can picture some of the lakes and waterfalls being some beautiful shots to get. There are great spots up and down the hood river too. It's a beautiful area, allot like Bend.

A little background about me, I started YouTube a long time ago (under the name naturegirl1224) to watch mermaid videos and favorite them and it progressed to me sharing my experiences in becoming a mermaid and expressing myself in many ways!! Now I go by Waves of Ash on every social media platform that I am a part of.

Courtney, I LOVE how your tail looks with the luna fin! So floppy and beautiful! I've been meaning to ask you how you would paint your scales on using templates.. I know that you do printing now but how would you do it with a scale template? I've been meaning to make another tail and I'd like to save time this time by using a scale template instead of hand painting every scale like I did last time.

By template, I really just mean to ask how you were able to paint your scales in multiples and not one at a time. I just assumed that you used a template of sorts (cut out to use to brush/stamp on color onto the tail).

Aha, I see what you mean. For my painted tails I use a single stencil that I use to paint the scales one at a time. For my digital work it's a copy and paste type situation hehe. I wish it was that easy for the painted tails. I haven't found a better way to do it yet.

So I'm new to Mernetwork and have recently uploaded my first. YouTube video of my journey along all the coastline of Scotland including swimming with wild seals. Was one of my best experiences of my life! To the second half swimming through underground caves in lanzarote. I am currently in the progress of organising my World trip of all the coastlines, lakes, rivers of the world making videos of my travels through differnt cultures discovering the local merlore as I go as well as taking mermazing photos in the different locations. Hopefully in Africa for Christmas and maybe forever being on the road becoming one with the ocean, seas, lakes you name it.
